WGC recorded their first victory of the season with a disciplined performance against a strong OA side in Group 1 of the U12A League.

Upon winning the toss James decided to make use of a flat pitch and elected to bat. Jordan and Hemang got the innings off to a fine start, both batting excellently with an opening stand of 51 off just 8 overs. With Jordan's dismissal for 13, Rob anchored the innings with 19 runs, and James pushed things along toward the end, leaving OA facing a daunting total of 109 - 3 off 17 overs.

WGC's trademark tight bowling and fielding would be required and opening bowlers Jordan & Charlie delivered exactly that. OA rapidly falling behind the run rate as excellent ground fielding as well turned many potential two's into only singles as Phil, Henry and Kieran regularly fired in laser like throws from the outfield, two excellent catches by Jordan & Phil, and a direct hit run out from Dan pegging OA well behind the run rate. The OA captain, Matt produced an excellent fightback with 3 sixes so the last few overs were a little tense, but WGC always had the runs on the board to record a win by 16 runs.

Won by 69 runs

On a warm May evening, Welwyn treated the crowd to a excellent display of team work and good cricket.

Winning the toss, WGC batted first and took advantage of the short boundaries with Ramlaul, Wells and Davis batting excellently, scoring 26, 22 and 26. Late order strength from Boylan and Parsons led Welwyn to 122 all out off their 20 overs. The Broxbourne opening bowlers Ridley and Oakes bowled extremely well taking 4 and 3 wickets respectively.

Broxbourne opened brightly with Ridley scoring 11. Off-spinner Brunel bowled excellently to take 4-10 off 4 overs and tremendous bowling from Moore (3-23 off 4 overs) left Broxbourne on 28-7.

Excellent fielding from Slaughter and Ramlaul, and a wicket a piece for Saul, Boylan and Davis saw Broxbourne all out for 53 off 13.3 overs.

Well played Welwyn and thanks to Broxbourne for a game played in a sporting and friendly manner.

WGC U12's efforts to qualify for the Herts Junior League 1/4 finals, remain on course after a convincing 44 run win vs Hitchin CC.

WGC won the toss, and on a green pitch, captain James Davis elected to bat, and openers Jordan Brunel & Hemang Ramlaul responded with a breathtaking opening stand of 51 off just 6 overs, Jordan retiring on 30, an excellent innings. A mini collapse of the middle order was rescued by Jon Saul and Sam Boylan, working with the tail effectively, to muster a total of 107 - 9 off 17 overs. Jon scoring 11, and Sam 12.

WGC prevented a quick start for Hitchin, and opening bowler Charlie Moore made early inroads into the innings with a typically probing spell taking two quick wickets leaving Hitchin 6 - 2. Rob Wells and Hemang Ramlaul then took over where Charlie finished, by rapidly scything through the Hitchin batting, both taking four wickets each Rob finishing with 4 - 8 and Hemang with 4-12. Hitchin eventually being bowled out for 63.

This result leaves WGC third in the Herts U12 East division, the top four going forward to the 1/4 finals.

A nail biting match saw St Margaretsbury win off of the last ball. The match itself, played in poor light and eventually driving rain!

WGC won the toss and elected to bat, Jordan was out early, with Rob and Hemang re-building carefully posting a partnership of 41. With both batsmen out quickly in succession, James and Charlie pushed on quickly, Charlie hitting two fours and James taking the aerial route where possible, retiring on an excellent 30. Henry shepherded the lower order with panache finishing on 16 not out. WGC finishing on 118-5 after the 20 overs.

St Margaretsbury started slowly with WGC making early inroads, two quick wickets for Charlie Moore. However, steady accumulation mixed with occasional big shots from the excellent Number 3, Matt Brownhill and two further excellent innings from the Whyman brothers allowed St Margaretsbury to keep the target in their sites.

3 were needed from the final over and although Jordan kept the pressure firmly on with his off spin and took 2 wickets, off the last ball the batsman was able to squeeze the ball through square leg for the victory, by 6 wickets. The total 119-4.

Well played to both sides. A cracking match despite the appalling weather...
