Statistics

In February 2004, Andrew Edwards compiled a set of Club statistics which were as complete as they possible could be.

Andrew wrote in his introduction:

“The 1st XI League statistics are complete with the exception of 1996.

“The 2nd XI League statistics contain the seasons 1976-7-8-9, 1982-3-5-6-7-8, 1991-3-4-5-7-8-9, 2000-1-2-3.

“3rd XI League statistics have not been produced, as not all the sets of averages, which I have, are divided between league and other games. The 3rd XI has played no matches other than league matches since 1998.

“The 1st XI All Matches statistics are complete from 1970 with the exceptions of 1973, 1996 and the final match of the 2002 season. There are a few allusions to earlier events, in one case as far back as 1957.

“The 2nd XI All Matches statistics contain the seasons listed above together with 1972.

“The 3rd XI statistics contain the seasons 1977-8, 1980-1-2-3-4-7-8-9, 1990-2-3-4-5-7-9, 2000-1-2-3.

“No 4th XI statistics are included. The 4th XI played league cricket for the first time in 1997, but were not in truth a WGCCC team until part way through the 2002 season. No scorebook was kept for that season, and I have seen only partial averages for the 2003 season. The occasional friendly matches played by extra teams before 1997 have been included in the 3rd XI statistics.”

Obviously there are no 5th XI statistics either, but Richard Hill has agreed to try and update these as long as he can find the relevant scorebooks.
