12 Jul, 2010Minor Counties KO Semi-final at Digswell Park on 11th JulyFor the second time this season WGCCC has staged a Minor County match with great success. Unfortunately Herts came second in a close and very exciting contest, but the visitors, Shropshire, who were new to Digswell Park, were unstinting in their praise for the attractive ground, the playing facilities and the hospitality provided by the Club. I appreciate the effort that was required to host this match and on behalf of the County I would like to thank all those Club members who contributed to the success of the day, particularly those concerned with pitch preparation and catering.

25 May, 20104 out of 4 for Juniors on Super TuesdayCongratulations to the U9s, U10s, U12s and U15s who all won their matches this evening.
The U9s overcame Sawbridgeworth at Digswell Park by 70 runs, the U10s defeated Harpenden by 18 runs on Harpenden Common, while the U12s went to Lucas Lane and beat Hitchin by 44 runs. Finally the U15s went to Pirton and secured a fine 7 wicket win.
A great effort and, as always, thanks to the coaches, managers and parents without whom, these matches would not be possible.
17 May, 2010A message from the HCCA PresidentA thank you from the County Cricket Club.
Wearing my hat as County President, I would like to thank all those concerned with the staging of the match against Bedfordshire at Digswell Park on Sunday. The ground was in great condition, the pitch excellent, and the hospitality offered to our visitors could not have been bettered. A great effort by WGCCC which was highly appreciated. And Hertfordshire won !
Thanks again on behalf of the County Club.

Under the Captaincy of WGCCC's Richard Hill, Ken scored 42 not out and bowled impressively in another Hertfordshire victory.

14 Apr, 2010Apology from The PresidentThank you all for a great turn out at President’s Night.
However, I want to apologise for the absence of the advertised food - this was due to an administrative mix-up for which I take full responsibility.
I hope that the availability of snake-bite went some way to remedy the situation and I will do better next year !

02 Mar, 2010Sainsbury's Active Kids 2010Many of you will be aware of Sainsbury's Active Kids programme which involves collecting Vouchers (1 for every £10 spent at Sainsbury's) and giving them to your school or scout/guide group.
This year, Sainsbury's has extended the programme to include Clubmark accredited Sports Clubs.
Welwyn Garden City Cricket Club has registered with the scheme and is now able to get sporting equipment in return for Vouchers collected.
Therefore, if you are shopping at Sainsbury's and you are offered the Vouchers, I would urge you to accept them and give them to Ian Watkins.
All donations will be gratefully accepted no matter how small as it all adds up to new equipment for the Junior section.
